How to Open a Boutique

So what does this have to do with opening a boutique? Mostly it’s about defining a destination. The first actual step in opening a boutique is desire. Many of us work a weekly job, full time in and full time out under the direction of someone else. For some people it’s not a lifestyle they prefer, but one that pays the bills. Sooner or later many people hit on the idea that it would be great to run their own business, which would still provide financial security, but would give them the flexibility to live their lives to the fullest while still pulling in a paycheck, and even doing work that they love. With a strong market demand and fairly straight forward methods of operation boutique ownership appeals to many and creates that opportunity to get out of a dead end job and start doing something you love.

Once you’ve made the decision to start a boutique there are many initial questions that you may be asking yourself on how to begin. Taken all at once these questions can be overwhelming, enough so that many people return to their jobs and just dream about what they could have done instead of venturing onward. Instead of giving up take the time to sit down and write down your questions. This way you can decide which aspects are most important and focus on those first. These may be questions such as:

1. What kind of boutique do I want to run?
2. What will I sell and where will I get it?
3. Where will I locate my boutique?
4. How will I finance my boutique?
5. How will I get customers?

These five are some of the biggest questions and the ones that will be discussed here.

What kind of boutique?

This is one of the most important questions to answer as it will determine the answers or at least the right direction to look for answers for the other questions. In order for a boutique to be successful it needs to fill a niche in the community where it is being opened. This does not mean that it has to be the strangest idea that you can think of, but that you need to take a moment and look around the area where you are thinking of starting your boutique. What kinds of shops already exist there? What is missing? Your niche is in that space of what is missing where you will provide the best customer service and prices for what you choose to sell. For example there may be many clothing stores in your area, but nothing specifically for teenagers interested in reasonably priced hip hop clothing. This is a niche you can fill.

Wholesale Nike Air Force One Shoes

Upon their sales to the public prices for the Air Force One shoes ranged from $70 to $80 retail for the standard white or black Nike Air Force One and up to $300 for customized colors and logos. Almost instantly this also created a market for wholesale Nike Air Force Ones, but that market was harder to maintain in competition with the larger stores carrying the retail marketing power and recognition.

Corresponding with the release and early popularity of the Nike Air Force One line was the revolution of the Hip Hop movement and the growing trend of Hip Hop clothing. Hip-hop fashion began to gain momentum in the late seventies and continued to survive as a unique culture and fashion through out the early eighties. Marked by clothing with an African American influence, early Hip Hop fashion included the wearing of large glasses, gold necklaces and rings, oversized loose fitting clothing in pallets of black, red and green and an emphasis on brand name footwear, Nike, Addidas that was comfortable and reflective of personal style, often with oversized laces.

Within the Hip Hop fashion culture Nike Air Force One shoes became very popular almost immediately. Bright colored with over sized laces, which were often left untied, or as white sneakers peaking out from under overlong pants Nike Air Force Ones maintained their hold on the Hip Hop market through the late eighties, nineties and continue to hold a strong place beyond the year 2000. They have become a much more casual wear shoe, seen just about everywhere, not only the basketball court.

Nike Air Force Ones

With prices ranging from $70 to $80 for the standard white or black Nike Air Force One and up to $300 for customized colors and logos this modest shoe has continued to hold a market share ever since.

Corresponding with the release and growth in popularity of the Nike Air Force One shoes was the growth of the Hip Hop movement and the growing popularity of Hip Hop clothing. Hip-hop fashion had begun to gain a foothold in the late seventies and continued to climb as a major culture and fashion through out the eighties. Marked by clothing with a distinctly African American influence the early Hip Hop fashion included the wearing of large glasses, gold necklaces, rings on many fingers, oversized clothing in pallets of red, black and green and an emphasis on brand name footwear that was comfortable and reflective of personal style.

The Nike Air Force Ones became very popular as a brand of footwear within the Hip Hop fashion culture. Bright colored with over sized laces, or white sneakers peaking out from under overlong pants Nike Air Force Ones maintained their hold on the Hip Hop market through the late eighties, nineties and continue to hold a strong place now. Whether high top, low cut or standard height these shoes that were once mostly for sporting uses are now a casual wear footwear seen on the streets and in the classroom as well as on the basketball court.

Currently there are many stores that sell the brand name Nike Air Force Ones, prices ranging from $70 upward, averaging out a bit over $100. In order to combat these prohibitive prices online websites such as urbanhotlist.com have appeared, offering discounted prices on these shoes as well as other popular brand names.

There are both advantages and disadvantages when it comes to working with an online sales site, like urbanhotlist.com. There is access to a much broader base of merchandise, in this case additional colors and styles of shoes that might not be available in stores and pricing can be kept reasonable, even after shipping and handling. For these reasons, among others, websites like urbanhotlist have become popular with consumers. Customers must be sure to get a good refund policy before placing an order, so that any defects or sizing problems can be easily addressed.

As long as this movement continues it seems that Nike will have a hit with their Nike Air Force One shoes and consumers will have places to go to get what they want for the price they want to pay.
