He surrounded himself with creative people and began by designing unique pieces of clothing that made the wearer stand out from the crowd. He gave his designers the freedom to create stylish t-shirts that would be popular across different cultures. Diesel was seen as rule breaker that didn’t stick to the predicted trends and soon developed its own style and loyal band of customers. In 1991 the brand began to expand outside its home country of Italy and worked on an international marketing strategy that saw the brand move into the UK and US market. High on the list of frustrating things people do because they feel they have to is jeans shopping. Shopping for a pair of comfortable chinos would be easier, but it would not meet that irresistible need to have a stylish well fitting pair of jeans ready to go at a moments notice.

If you are like most people, there are several pairs of jeans in your closet that almost never see the light of day. They may have looked right in the store, but at home they just don’t make the cut over the one pair in the closet that actually fits and feels just right. Just about all frustrated shoppers have thoughts on the matter of how to buy the right pair of jeans. Only a few ideas, however, are really worth considering given subtle variations of body types that a pair of jeans needs to fit.

Fit the body type
Although it is fairly simplistic to say that there are only five body types, it is the easiest way to narrow down the hundreds that could be given. Consider these groupings: short-wasted, long torso, plus-size, wide hips, slim and petite. There are of course variations in between. For a short-waste consider lower fitting hip hugger jeans. These will tend to elongate the upper body. For a long torso body type, go for a pair of jeans that has a defined waist. This goes in the opposite direction of the short waist person. Plus size people need to work with balancing the hips. To do this, look for a flare at the bottom of the leg. This will balance out the hips. Also, large pockets close together will help. A petite person should consider a straight leg pair of jeans that may be a bit baggier then normal. This will cast a taller silhouette.

Make yourself understand that the days of the torn knee and low-rise jeans are gone. This is not necessarily a bad thing because it gives you quite a few options with regard to style and fit.

Brand name clothing is highly recognizable by customers because the brands spend millions of dollars marketing themselves. Non branded clothing, basically clothing by smaller labels or imported from overseas, have no name recognition. But the flip side is that non branded clothing can be purchased and resold for allot less than branded clothing.

So how do you decide between selling non branded and brand name clothing?

For starters you need to know who your customers are.

Although the following might not be politically correct you need to understand this.

Lower income customers might want brand name clothing but they cannot afford it. So even though they would love to have brand name clothing they will usually settle for non branded clothing.

On the other hand more affluent customers will want only branded clothing because they have more pressure in terms of keeping up with the latest styles.

Now the above is true in the theoretical world. But in the real world everyone wants brand name clothing.

So how do you as a reseller buy brand name clothing at prices low enough to sell to your poorer customers?

You need to purchase overstock clothing.

Overstock clothing consists of clothing which a department store did not sell within a set period of time. A department store wants to always have new merchandise on its racks. Whatever does not sell within a set period of time will be sold out as overstock.

Since the overstock consists of brand names you have a great opportunity.
